A report from The Institute for Women’s Policy Research notes that although the African-American women’s workforce participation has historically been high — in 2017, that group’s labor force participation rate was 60.3 percent, compared to white and Hispanic women’s 56.4 percent — they’ve held a limited number of occupations with low pay and undesirable work conditions.
