This study builds on previous IWPR work and provides information on the income packaging strategies and outcomes for a variety of low-income families with children in the United States during a time period prior to the welfare reform legislation of 1996. The study is organized around three major themes: (1) the diversity of family structures; (2) the income generating activities of low-income families; and (3) the economic well-being of low-income families.
