Women in New Jersey — and nationally — make less money than their male counterparts. Why is that?
One of the reasons for the wage gap are that women and men pursue different types of careers, said Jessica Milli, study director at the Institute for Women’s Policy Research in Washington.
“One of the big examples is the tech industry and similar (industries) … which has been painted as very inhospitable to women,” Milli said. “There’s a ‘bro’ culture and there’s a lot of men. … It’s why we see a lot of turnover there.”
