Paid sick days are an important health care benefit. They also make good business sense. The Institute for Women’s Policy Research studies show that the gross costs will be minor — and these costs will be offset by increased productivity, less contagion of fellow workers and by greater employee retention. I was accordingly disappointed in The Courant’s March 3 editorial “Business-Friendly? No.” The Connecticut Business and Industry Association and its consultants have grossly exaggerated the potential costs.”
