  • IWPR Statement on Supreme Court Ruling in Trump v. Cook

    Jun 29, 2026

The following is a statement from Dr. Jamila K. Taylor, president and CEO of the Institute for Women’s Policy Research, on the US Supreme Court’s ruling in Trump v. Cook:

“This ruling is a triumph for justice over racism. Like every other federal court that has heard this case, the US Supreme Court determined that President Trump’s attempt to fire Lisa Cook from the Federal Reserve Board was legally unfounded. It remains clear this was a blatantly vindictive attack on what he fears most: a strong, independent Black woman who excels at a federal job.

“As we and many others have noted repeatedly, Dr. Cook’s service on the Federal Reserve Board has been exemplary. From the day he took office, however, President Trump has made his contempt for both federal employees and the independence of agencies such as the Fed all too clear. These vendettas do nothing to help families that are struggling to afford the basics like health care or housing. They are an embarrassing affront to America’s institutions and values.

“We urge President Trump to finally start paying attention to the health and well-being of women and families. And we look forward to Dr. Cook’s continued service to our country.”
