Nicolas Martinez serves as the communications associate, where he manages daily social media and mass email communications as well as legislative correspondence and outreach activities on a diverse portfolio of topics including gender pay equity, paid leave, employment, poverty, higher education, workforce development, and domestic violence.
Before joining IWPR, Nicolas was both a communications and legislative affairs intern at the Center for Budget and Policy Priorities, working with strategic communications and legislative outreach on policies including healthcare, food security, poverty, affordable higher education, and budget and tax issues. He also served as a communications fellow at the Partnership for Public service, working primarily on the Samuel J. Heyman Service to America Medals and its efforts to create a more effective federal government.
Nicolas graduated with his BA in political science with a minor in economics from the College of William and Mary. He is originally from Virginia Beach, VA and enjoys running, skating, and reading the latest good book.
