Karen Scott is the Associate Director of Human Capital and Operations at IWPR. She has over 10 years of experience working in the areas of human resources, organizational development, and financial management in the government, non-profit, and corporate sectors.
Prior to coming to IWPR, she served as an HR Project Manager at The Brookings Institution. During her tenure at Brookings she managed the internship, mentoring, and professional development programs, led recruitment and outreach efforts, and worked to enhance diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives.
Karen is an HR generalist by training and has experience in the areas of recruitment and hiring, employee relations and performance, benefits administration, compensation, professional development, and organizational change management.
Karen earned her Master’s degree in Public Administration, with a focus on public sector human resources, Master of Arts in History, and Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. She is currently working on her Society of Human Resources Management Senior Certified Professional certification (SHRM-SCP) and is a 500 hour Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT).
